Woodfield Ward - the Woodfield area

Each ward is represented by 4 Parish councillors.

No formal qualifications are needed to be a Parish Councillor but you must be:
  • over 21 years of age,
  • a Commonwealth citizen or Euro national,

and be either

  • an elector of the parish.

or, during the whole of the 12 months prior to the election either

    1. be a resident, or
    2. be owner or tenant of land or premises, or
    3. have your only or principal place of work

  • conviction of an offence that results in imprisonment for three months or more
  • having been found guilty of corrupt or illegal practices

Co-opted councillors

Vacant seats are filled by co-option if

  • insufficient candidates stand at the whole council elections or,
  • no by-election has been requested (by at least 10 electors from the affected ward) to fill a mid-term vacancy.

Cam Parish Council's usual practice is to advertise any vacant seats and make a decision based on written applications from interested residents.
